I decided to put this part on hiatus for two or three weeks because a lack of interest. I really enjoy discovering new music, so I’m going to stop reviewing all 40 singles and do the top 10 with music videos included. Hope you enjoy it!
1. Fight for this Love – Cheryl Cole
Cheryl Cole relies on heavily on rhyming “Clears out all the questions/When it gets tough we’ve got to fight some more.” It’s a pretty generic song that doesn’t do much for me. I love many of her fashion choices. She wears a bright red riding coat that makes me think “the British are coming!” In Cheryl’s case, she did come and conquer.
2. What About Now – Westlife
The return of Westlife! They’re an Irish boy band who made history in the UK with their first seven singles to go to number one. They were on the fringes of *Nsync, the Backstreet boys and LFO. It’s a typical boyband song talking about love and what will happen if their love doesn’t last. *le sigh* Oh boybands…
3. Down – Jay Sean
“Down” is pretty corny, but a preppy upbeat vibe. It doesn’t hurt that ‘Lil Wayne is featured. When I first heard this song I loved it. The video starts off with manbeef as Jay Sean is half naked standing in front of a mirror. My favorite part is ‘Lil Wayne. Mmmm… beefy good.
4. Bad Boys – Alexandra Burke featuring Flo Rida
“Bad boys” begins with a up tempo pop song beat, but Alexandra blows the top off with her vocals. We all love a little bit of the bad boys.
5. Haven’t Met You Yet – Michael Buble
Michael Buble is usually the cheesy guy with the crooner voice reminiscent of the 1940s/1950s. I am obsessed with this feel good song. When you’re ready to give up on love or anything associated with it, this song reminds everyone that there is still hope. The video takes place in an average supermarket, one of the most common places you could meet someone. He leads the customers and employees out to the parking lot for a dance party. Michael, you’re a stud!
6. Meet Me Halfway – the Black Eyed Peas
The Peas are exploding everywhere with single after single. “Meet Me Halfway” is very Peas-like talking about waiting that other man. The video is rather strange with all four members in different worlds trying to meet up. The most fascinating part is Will.I.Am. riding the elephant across the desert. Awesome!
7. Oopsy Daisy – Chipmunk
“Oopsy Daisy” has spent four weeks on the charts and is down four spots this week. It’s got a really interesting sound and addicting. After listening to this song for a while, I downloaded Chipmunk’s album.
8. Million Dollar Bill – Whitney Houston
Houston is back with “Million Dollar Bill.” She shows her vocal range with an upbeat song. She’s playing it a bit safe trying to appeal to a younger fan base. She’s being doing really well with the song. I’m curious to see what else she’s going to pump out.
9. Bodies – Robbie Williams
Upon first hearing this song, I was really intrigued with the Asian feel to the song. Then pumps up the hard rock feel. I really like this song and the musical energy. I was really surprised to find it’s about God and him saving his believers. It’s a bit refreshing to have a song like topping the charts. The video is really macho, but it certainly is interesting.
10. I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
It’s the second single the Peas have in the top 10. Good song with a good message!
